universal credit

Picture
The new kid on the block
Universal Credit is a single monthly payment for people in or out of work, which merges together some of the benefits and tax credits that you might be getting now. Universal Credit will replace: Income-based Job Seeker's Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance.
If you need help registering for Universal credit, come in and we will help you

Universal Credit is paid in the following ways:
  • It will be paid monthly into a bank account of your choice.
  • If you get help with your rent, this will be included in your monthly payment – you’ll then pay your landlord directly.
  • If you live with your partner and you are both eligible, you will get one monthly joint payment.
  • It can take several weeks after you make your claim to get your first payment.

Not sure how to use IT to check for your benefits and entitlements?
Many people unfamiliar with IT can struggle to use new technology. This means they may miss out on the best deals for benefits and entitlements as well as for gas, electricity, insurance et cet. Communication with family and friends can be much easier and quicker using email or other IT tools if you know how. Or if you just want to do some on-line shopping, then IT skills are essential. If you are stuck, call in and we can help you on the road to IT-ability! Sometimes just practice is all you need, or perhaps direction to classes in using IT.
