COMMUNITY FUND NATIONAL LOTTERY AWARD 2018-2021
Life and Learning in the Community Project
Streets Ahead secured three years of Community Fund (Lottery) funding from 15 April, 2018 to15 April, 2021 for a project which will offer support, activities and volunteering opportunities for people in Gresham to bring the community together, reduce isolation and improve the local environment. A one stop shop will provide help with education, employment, crime prevention and environmental protection, a job and computer club, and access to local service providers. Streets Ahead serves a diverse community including refugees and asylum seekers and will offer specific support for new arrivals to the area. A range of initiatives related to this projects are underway and showing results exceeding our expectation. See below and on other pages for information about these. |
Free English classes for adult beginners living in Gresham.
These courses provide support and practise in English language skills to support daily life, for example when shopping, going to the doctor, filling in forms and talking to neighbours. No examination or test preparation are required.
Our tutor is a lady and is an experienced teacher of English. We run the classes at our office at 109-111 Parliament Road in Middlesbrough. Call in to ask, phone us on 01642 803451 or email jfearon33@gmail.com

My Gresham- Your Gresham is an oral history project for the Gresham area aimed at briging together the local community and improving cohesion in our community.
There are three part to this project:

- Recorded oral history interviews with a wide range of people living and working in Gresham
- Supporting visits to the local Dorman Museum.
- 'An Evening With'.... involving groups of residents meeting to talk about aspects of Gresham
CLEVELAND COMMUNITY SAFETY AWARDS 2016

November 9th saw Streets Ahead honoured by the award of the Cleveland Community Safety Award 2016 for Community Minded Business.
The award was presented by Barry Coppinger, the Police & Crime Commissioner for Cleveland at an event at Stockton Riverside College.
The Commissioner described the wide range of work done by Streets Ahead for and in the Gresham community and the range of people who benefit from what we do.

THE MAYORS AWARD
The Mayor's Award presented by Ray Mallon is a recognition of outstanding citizens of Middlesbrough who have made a major contribution to the people, community and city of Middlesbrough.
Linda Mole, Chair of Streets Ahead for Information, was recently presented with the Mayors Award to commemorate her life-time of work and contributions to her community and her work with Streets Ahead and other local community organisations.
